Collaboration and capacity building are in the spotlight on achieving the global goals for sustainable development and climate change targets. For one more year, Global Sustain participated in the Egypt CSR Forum, an annual event for corporate responsibility and sustainable development, bringing together key actors from the global and regional ESG markets.

The 12th Egypt CSR Forum – A networking, training, and professional development event, took place on March 10-13, 2022, at Jolie Ville Resort & Spa Kings Island in Luxor, Egypt.

Michael Spanos, Managing Director of Global Sustain, delivered to over 150 participants a 3-day training course on the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), as a robust climate governance and reporting framework to define and manage the impacts of climate change, risks, and opportunities, climate-related policies, and emerging technologies on financial markets.

The 3-day TCFD Training covered the following five comprehensive modules, including case studies, live polls, and group exercises:

  1. Introduction to TCFD
  2. TCFD adoption across the world
  3. TCFD and the Banking Sector
  4. TCFD and the Investments Sector
  5. Reporting on TCFD

Mr. Hassan Mostafa, Chairman and CEO of Egypt CSR Forum and CSR Egypt, mentioned: “We would like to thank Mr. Michael Spanos for being with us for one more year and delivering successfully the TCFD Training. We are looking forward to welcoming him again to the next Egypt CSR Forum”.

In turn, Mr. Michael Spanos thanked him for the successful implementation of this impactful event, as well as the ongoing efforts of CSR Egypt to build multilateral dialogue and synergies for sustainability in Egypt.

The Forum highlighted the importance of institutional development and capacity building as the main engines in achieving sustainability. The discussion topics included the role of effective partnerships for sustainable development and limiting climate change effects, sustainable finance, and ESG best practices from the private sector. In addition, several workshops took place focusing on topics such as sustainability reporting in accordance with the GRI Standards, Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), sustainability strategies, sustainable business models, social inclusion, and digital transformation.

The Forum was attended by leading speakers and experts on ESG and sustainable finance from national and international organisations, including ministries, regulatory authorities, banks, investors, international financial institutions, academia, civil society, and corporates from key sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, construction, pharmaceuticals, media, and telecommunications, among others.

Global Sustain has a multi-year presence and project experience in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, pursuing a common goal; accelerating partnerships and capacity to achieve the UN 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement.
